I’m excited to be back sharing another eco-friendly wedding decoration idea for you to consider for your big day. I personally love to craft and decorate using natural materials. To use things found in the garden is both eco and budget-friendly, and natural materials add something special to any decor.
Pinecones are one of my favorite materials to work with. They come in many different shapes and sizes, and their natural and rustic look work well for a variety of styles and themes. The pinecone flowers can be used in bouquets and centerpieces, as cake toppers and escort cards, or even turned into fire starters to give away as favors. They can also very easily be turned into homemade wooden flowers, and all you need are some pliers.
How to make pinecone flowers
Time needed: 5 minutes.
How to make flowers out of pinecones for the ultimate eco-friendly wedding decorations!
- Cut off the top of the pinecone
Use pliers to cut off the top of your pinecone. Remove as many pieces as needed to get a good shape.
- Remove bits until you reach your desired shape
With the pliers, remove some leftover bits from the middle and shape it as you like.
Pinecone flowers can be used for bouquets and boutonnières, to decorate signs, frames, lanterns, and votives. With a bit of paint, they can even be made into faux succulents!
